Auspower Connect undertook the comprehensive electrical design for a 155-lot residential development at 140 Kleinton Road, Highfields, ensuring a reliable electricity supply for the entire subdivision.
Early Works: To avoid delays in civil construction, we initiated an ‘early works’ package. This phase involved the installation of a new 11kV 400 AL 3C Triplex cable, connecting existing Ergon network poles along Meringandan and Kleinton Roads. This setup facilitated the recovery of existing 11kV overhead mains, streamlining the transition to the new infrastructure. Additionally, we extended the low voltage circuit from a padmount substation on Sportsman Drive to provide a 3-phase supply to Lot 151, ensuring uninterrupted electricity during the transition phase.
Subdivision Works: The subdivision phase involved the installation of critical 11kV network assets to support the development’s electrical infrastructure now and in futher stages. This included:
- One 500kVA 11kV Padmount Transformer for the northern section.
- Two 315kVA 11kV Padmount Transformers for the central and southern sections.
- One 200kVA 11kV Pole Transformer dedicated to the Sewer Pump Station on Wirraglen Road.
- Two 4-way 11kV Ring Main Units to enhance network reliability.
- Numerous street lights (59 minor road LEDs and 3 major road LEDs) for improved safety and visibility.
- Extensive cabling with 1721m of 400 AL 3C Triplex 11kV cable and 4033m of 240 AL 4C LV cable.
Planning for the positioning of transformer sites was critical in ensuring compliance with flood level requirements and maintaining necessary fire and EMF clearance zones. Dedicated Ergon easements were included in the final survey to accommodate these requirements for future development stages.
Through these efforts, we provided a reliable and cost effective electrical infrastructure for the development.
