What we do

Building and constructions works in proximity to Energex overhead powerlines can be very high-risk work. The builder must make an application for Working Near and the Energex will assess the impact of the proposed works on the electricity network. If necessary, the Energex will de-energise the powerlines. Access to the Queensland Electricity Network must comply with the requirements of Queensland Electricity Entity Standard for Safe Access to High Voltage Electrical Apparatus.

Our Authorised Switching Recipient is issued with an ‘Access Permit’ and performs a site-specific risk assessment with the personnel conducting the work to ensure the protection of workers, public, plant and equipment. Our Authorised Switching Recipient will monitor the works for compliance.
