Procedure

  • Evaluate NBN network configuration,
  • Review the council decision notice and development footprint,
  • Evaluate proposed development requirements,
  • Coordinate with other services,
  • Request quotations from accredited contractors,
  • Administer the project on behalf of the client.

Your Council Development Approval (DA) decision notice will generally state that a subdivider must provide evidence of an agreement with a telecommunication carrier to provide underground telecommunication services within and adjacent to the proposed development.

You must obtain a Telecommunications Provisioning Letter from NBN, so this can be presented to the council for plan sealing.

Telecommunications are not available so you must engage an accredited NBN engineering consultant to investigate the NBN network and determine the most cost-effective method of providing telecommunications to the subdivision.

Our engineering consultants undertake the following:

  • Review the council decision notice and development footprint,
  • Review existing NBN supply arrangement,
  • Conduct field work as required,
  • Consider NBN Pit and Pipe guidelines,
  • Develop a suitable telecommunications arrangement,
  • Produce and engineering design showing the proposed Pit and Pipe Network,
  • Coordinate with other engineering professions,
  • Prepare an operational works submission for council (if required),
  • Prepare a submission for NBN,
  • Liaise with the client to pay NBN fees,
  • Advise the client of their responsibilities,
  • Administer the project on behalf of the client.

The client must engage an accredited contractor to install Telecommunications Pit and Pipe Network in the road reserve.

NBN will provide a Telecommunications Provisioning Letter after NBN requirements are satisfied. This includes signed ‘As Constructed’ drawings and Mandrel test results from the accredited contractor.
