Our electrical engineering consultants prepare detailed design for installation of street lights for major and minor transport corridors.

      • Consider council/Department of Transport and Main Roads planning requirements,
      • Evaluate electricity network configuration,
      • Coordinate with other services,
      • Evaluate suitability for Rate 2 or Rate 3 Public Lighting Scheme,
      • Develop a concept plan for agreement with the client and Energex,
      • Develop detailed design for electricity supply to the development,
      • Request quotations from accredited contractors,
      • Administer the project on behalf of the client.

Your development may include road works and modifications to street lighting.

You must engage an accredited electrical engineering consultant to investigate the existing street lighting arrangement and determine the most cost-effective method of providing appropriate street lighting to the development.

Our electrical engineering consultants undertake the following:

  • Review the civil plans and council decision notice,
  • Consider Council planning requirements,
  • Review existing lighting scheme and connection arrangement,
  • Consider Energex public lighting guidelines,
  • Consider whether existing Energex assets will be impacted by the roadworks,
  • Develop a suitable streetlight connection arrangement,
  • Consider whether Rate 2 or Rate 3 streetlight tariff is appropriate,
  • Produce and concept design for discussion with other engineering professions,
  • Liaise with Energex for approval of connection arrangement and tariff,
  • Coordinate with other engineering professions,
  • Produce a detailed design showing the proposed extension to the streetlight scheme,
  • Prepare an operational works submission for council (if required),
  • Call tenders,
  • Prepare a submission for Energex,
  • Liaise with the client to pay Energex fees,
  • Obtain a Public Lighting Supply Agreement,
  • Advise the client of their responsibilities,
  • Administer the project on behalf of the client.

The client must engage an accredited Energex service provider to undertake the construction of the electricity reticulation.

The client’s project manager will arrange identification of relevant boundaries and liaise with accredited Energex service providers with regard to site availability, timing and duration of works.

The principal’s surveyor is to peg all boundaries prior to construction and after construction to prove the accuracy of asset installation.
